The Red Brick Theater Company of the Delphi Public Library performed on the rear stage in the Opera House Gallery of Contemporary Art during the 2010 Old Settlers Celebration under the direction of Sara Daly Brosman. Actress Myra Marlowe (Kayla Haley) moves to Beaver Haven, Alabama to escape prying eyes of fans and find the simple life, write her memoirs, and grow tomatoes. Her agent Tom Lamont (Jimmy Reed) bemoans her decision and tries to convince her to return to California. Nosy neighbors Cora Gump (Grace Currie), Reba Harper (Hannah Evans), and Willa May Wilcox (Sara Brosman) lead Myra to invent a crazy sister to scare them off. When handyman Piney (Andrew Martin) falls for the sister Myra realizes she must get rid of the character. The neighbors become convinced that she has murdered her sister and call in the town sheriff (Daniel Martin). |

HISTORY THROUGH POSTCARDS...On Friday evening, former DPS president Tom Atkinson gave an informative and entertaining Powerpoint presentation highlighting many postcards from his extensive collection. Among those represented was this interesting panoramic view of the second courthouse, the Soldiers Monument, and South Washington Street sold at J.E. Ruffing's store. The card was manufactured sometime between 1901 and 1907--a period when messages had to be written on the face of the card with the back restricted to only the address.
