The Delphi Preservation Society, Inc. was founded in August 1994, and held its first meeting during Delphi's Old Settlers Celebration. The society became an Indiana non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation in December of 1994. As a non-profit organization, we strive to preserve the historic architectural integrity of Delphi, Indiana.

The Board of Directors meets on the third Thursday of each month to discuss ongoing projects that concern the structures and people of Delphi. Meetings are open to all DPS members and their guests. Among the projects currently underway is the restoration of the façade of the Assion-Ruffing City Hall building on the east side of the courthouse square in Delphi. The Society is also engaged in the renovation of the Lathrope-Ruffing Opera House on the third floor of the City Hall building. When complete, this restoration project will return a jewel to Carroll County's crown and bring the performing arts back to the heart of Delphi. Our Mission ...

The Delphi area has a unique place in the history of the development of our country. The resources and features that remain here today to remind us of our past need our care and nurturing. It shall be the mission of the Delphi Preservation Society to support the preservation, protection and restoration of historic structures in the greater Delphi area from the threat of neglect, obsolescence and the pressures of a modern society. To achieve this mission the Delphi Preservation Society will support, encourage, inform, and educate the public of the architectural significance, history, and heritage of the greater Delphi area.
